I’m going to try to rotate these between film, music, literature and whathaveyou.
First up:
To Be and To Have
A French documentary – please, keep reading — released in 2002 that follows one year in the life of a rural French schoolhouse. It’s a subtle portrait of the dedication and compassion of the schoolhouse’s lone teacher who is a year away from retirement. The most memorable character by far is little “Jojo” who steals just about every scene that he’s in. I would gladly watch a 10 part mini-series that follows little Jojo around; that’s him in the poster. It is almost unfathomable for anyone not to love this film. Added bonus: it’s currently available to be viewed instantly on Netflix.
