Beach House is the impressive indy rock duo of Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand. They hail from Baltimore, Maryland, although you would probably have guessed Sweden or Norway just by looking at them.
They released their second album, Devotion, this past February. Their first album, 2006’s Beach House, had an incredible song called “Master of None” that I must have listened to 50 times in a one week period. Devotion, shockingly, is better. That rarely ever happens, but they’ve managed to improve on the moody, atmospheric, haunting sound of the first album. Listen to “Gila,” I won’t steer you wrong. Also, I’d recommend their “Bohemian Rhapsody” inspired video for their single, “You Came to Me.” As an added bonus, Victoria looks stoned off her ass the entire video, which I enjoy:
